Our Story

I'm Libor, founder of 360swim, and a swimmer and coach for as long as I can remember. Long before 360swim existed, I was writing about swimming at the Swimator Blog, which became the 360swim blog. Coaching tips, technique, open water. That blog has been running for over 20 years now.

Open water swimmers using 360swim tow float buoys in lakes and seas worldwide

Our buoys came from watching the same thing happen at open water events worldwide. Swimmers were drowning, not always because they couldn't swim, but because nobody could see them in time to save them. In open water, a swimmer is almost invisible: to boats, to safety crews, even to people watching from shore. The sport was growing fast. The safety simply wasn't.

360swim shipped its first buoys in 2012 from Finland, one of the first dedicated swim buoy brands in Europe. Back then, almost nobody was making buoys seriously. Most brands still don't. At 360swim, it's still the main thing we do.

Over a quarter million people worldwide now swim with a 360swim buoy. I see them at events, in photos people send, in lakes and seas I've never swum in. That never gets old.

The open water community looks after each other. That's something I've always loved about it. If you swim in open water, you already know. You pick up after yourself, you check on the person next to you, you leave the water better than you found it. Don't forget to #pickuptrash along the way.

Wishing you happy and safe swimming,
Libor, Founder of 360swim
